“I’M ENGAGED!!!!!” premier American Idol winner and megapopstar Kelly Clarkson tweeted to her more than 2.5 million Twitter followers on December 15. The lucky guy putting an end to Clarkson’s six-year single streak is Brandon Blackstock, son of Clarkson’s manager and stepson of country star Reba McEntire. On the “happiest night” of Clarkson’s life, “the greatest man ever” gave her a five-carat-plus yellow canary, radiant-cut diamond, surrounded by white diamonds on a diamond band; Blackstock designed it with Beverly Hills jeweler and Johnathan Arndt, and Clarkson tweeted that she can’t wait to have Arndt help her design a ring for Blackstock in return.
The couple has yet to set a wedding date, but it’s been reported that Clarkson has gone from wanting elopement to wanting a bigger, more public affair—one that might even feature music by country’s Blake Shelton, who has volunteered his services for the happy event. Saying “I do” will make Clarkson not just a bride, but stepmom to Blackstock’s two children. Big day indeed!
